2012 Season - Pre Season Guide

Draft Day

Right Olympics over, here comes the BUMS. Yes we are just 2 weeks way from the 2012 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft which will take place at BUMS HQ on Monday evening August 27th. The draft will be at 4pm and should be done by 7pm. It will be followed by some of Cheryl’s finest dining, all are welcome. Attached is the player price spreadsheet including all the players 2011 scores & how much a Franchise player will cost you if he is cut by his current owner. Remember if you cut your franchise player you’ll have to pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. George is paying former Dallas Kicker David Buehler $0.5m this year and so has a $9.5m budget to spend on his eight players. He gets a supplemental draft pick at the end of round 5, Big names who are available include Quarterbacks Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan and Jay Cutler; Running Backs Chris Johnson, Rashard Mendenhall and Frank Gore & Receivers Miles Austin, Percy Harvin and DeSean Jackson as they have all ended their 2 year Franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with our biggest ever rookie class (35) - see the rookie report attached. The player pool is based on the depth charts listed by Ourlads at the weekend and the rankings from www.fantasy-info.com. So get planning and let me know how you are drafting live at HQ, by email in advance, by phone live or by internet live, courtesy of Mark (BUMS Vice President – Head of Technology). Draft Order and Franchise Players We pick in reverse points order from last years final tables so David S has the first pick in the draft and Chief the final choice. Mark selects before Dave G as although they were tied on points Mark won the tie-breaker (most points in the play-offs after The Misunderstood failed to supply a team for the Wildcards), The full draft order, budgets available & franchise players are attached. As mentioned George will pick at the end of the 5th round as he cut his 2012-13 Franchise man. In his annual re-naming, David S changes the Wellington Windy BUMS to Karori Killer Kiwis, the area of Wellington they now live in. So with David in New Zealand and Wayne in Los Angeles the BUMS now exists on three continents, both hemispheres and covers an incredible 20 time-zones. World domination cannot be far away. Trading Days You will have the usual two opportunities to make changes. Trading Day 1 is on Sunday 14th October before week 6’s games and Trading Day 2 will be on Sunday 18th November before week 11. Please get these dates in your diary. Hope you can make it to BUMS HQ for each of these days to trade and watch the Sunday games that follow. You are all very welcome. Season Kick-Off Game The first game of the season is an NFC East match-up as Dallas travel to the Superbowl winning New York Giants on Wednesday 5th September. Sky should show the game live in the early hours of Thursday and we’ll get together later that evening to watch it. Venue to be confirmed. Meantime have a good fortnight planning your strategy and see you on August 27th.
